プレーマチャンドラチンタカ

スリランカ出身の研究者。2000年日本政府国費留学生として来日、高専、大学、大学院と進学し、2011年名古屋大学大学院にて博士（工学）を取得。東京理科大学工学部電気工学科助教を経て、2016年より芝浦工業大学工学部先端電子工学コース（2023年度度以前の旧名：電子工学科）・大学院理工学研究科に所属（教授）。

AI・映像・音声処理・ロボティクス・UAVを専門としており、現在は、情報通信やロボットの技術を高齢者、障害者や被災者等の要支援者へのサポートに応用する研究に従事している。2022 年IEEE Sensors Letters Best Paper Award等の多くの受賞。研究活動についてはこちら → Research (研究活動) 研究室ウェブ

Chinthaka Premachandra (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Sri Lanka. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Mie University, Tsu, Japan, in 2006 and 2008, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 2011. From 2012 to 2015, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo University of Science, Tokyo, Japan. From 2016 to 2017, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Tokyo, where he was an Associate Professor, from 2018 to 2022. In 2022, he was promoted to a Professor with the Department of Advance Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology, where he is currently the Director of the Image Processing and Robotic Laboratory. His research interests include AI, UAV, image processing, audio processing, intelligent transport systems (ITS), and mobile robotics.

He is a member of IEEE, IEICE, Japan; SICE, Japan; RSJ, Japan; and SOFT, Japan. He has received many awards, including the IEEE SENSORS LETTERS Best Paper Award from the IEEE Sensors Council in 2022 and the IEEE Japan Medal from the IEEE Tokyo Section in 2022. He also received the FIT Best Paper Award and the FIT Young Researchers Award from IEICE and IPSJ, Japan, in 2009 and 2010, respectively. He has served as a steering committee member and an editor for many international conferences and journals. He is the Founding Chair of the International Conference on Image Processing and Robotics (ICIPRoB), which is technically co-sponsored by IEEE. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (R-AL) and IEICE Transactions on Information and Systems.

IEEE Sensors Letters学術雑誌に掲載された我々の論文が2022 IEEE Sensors Letters論文賞を受賞しました。

Professor Chinthaka was selected for the New Generation Star Project at the 2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) and was introduced at the PC member social gathering. This project recognizes young researchers active in the field of robotics and takes place during the world's top-level robotics conferences, ICRA or IROS.

チンタカ教授は、2024 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) の「New Generation Star Project」に選ばれ、会議のPCメンバー懇親会で紹介されました。これは、ロボット分野で活躍する若手研究者を表彰するもので、世界トップクラスのロボット関連分野の国際会議であるICRAまたはIROSの開催中に行われます。
